Wherever You Go, There You Are

Just completed a 6 turn game, which took about 9 hours with rule explanations, dinner, and a Packer game.
I have seen comments that a 6 turn game mucks up the Romans, while a 9 turn game makes it difficult for the Greeks and E/S.
Any comments from people that have played both? From a length perspective, the 9-turn version seems that it would take way too long. I think the 6-turn game length is more what my gaming group is interested in...

Re:6 Turn vs 9 Turn
We normally finish a 6 turn game in 4 hours and a 9 turn game in 6 hours. The first time it always takes a lot longer, so try it again and you’ll hopefully play through it a lot faster.
As for how many turns to play. It’s actually two very different games. In the 6 turn one an early mistake can cost you they victory while you’d still be able to make a comeback in the longer game. The problem with the longer game is that sometimes you get knocked down and then it isn’t that fun to sit around for 4 hours waiting around when it’s clear you have no chance of winning whatsoever.
If I were you I’d play some more 6 turn games to get to know the system and work out some strategies, when you have that covered try out the 9 turn game.
I personally prefer the longer game as it awards long time planning more.
