Why does it matter, and why should have to choose. I think it will depend on what you are in the mood for. Of course PR is many years old and I have played it a ton. So for now Agricola is better, why because its in the cult of the new.

The rankings are way of taking an average across the BGG population.

Yes, because from what I understand Agricola is heavier and bigger is always better

They are both "10"'s IMO
- and since it isn't possible to rate them higher at BGG, is one not better than the other...
