So I picked up a new Cranium Cariboo game from Target, and straight out of the box apparently missing one of the square board double sided tiles. I thought about returning it, but instead decided to remake it, seeing as how the paper components seem to be printed on 110lb cardstock.
So I'm making new cards, to expand the existing game and would like some ideas/suggestions as to what I should add.
for a beginner card set I'm adding the following:
These are based on what my girls mostly know, and what their other games/toys try to teach. Right now I only have the cards done, and need to make the board tiles, but those are dictated by the cards. I know others have commented about the lack of card variety, so I'm open for ideas on what else to add, as I do plan to upload my custom set here on BGG when its ready.
Maths might be a good set. Put numbers on the trapdoor cards and then have a set of cards with shorts sums on them 2+5 or 4-1 etc. that you have to find the answer to on the trapdoors...
Or... have single numbers on the draw cards and the kids can take two cards and try to make an addition/subtraction that equals one of the numbers on the trapdoors... so you draw 1 and 5 and you could open trapdoor 6 (5+1) or trapdoor 4 (5-1)
You could do a foreign language set with cards in Spanish or French, etc.
un, deux, trois, rouge, vert, jaune...
opposites... match the opposite on your draw card to the trapdoor card... up/down, in/out, hot/cold, ...
pictures of fruit/veg and cards that ask you to match where they grow (underground, plant, tree), which are veg which are fruit, etc.
Ditto animals- mammal/reptile/fish... where they live - forest/savanah/arctic/desert...
Just some quick ideas off the top of my head... My youngest son (3) was mad about this game so a new set of cards to restimulate his interest would be great - if only I was artistic! ;-
