I just wanted everyone to know how great Uwe was at this year's GenCon. I had been following the game on BGG for awhile now but it is the type of game my group does not really get into. So when we were wandering the exhibit hall Thursday morning and I saw this game - I wandered over for a demo. Uwe and his son both explained the game and it really sounded like a fun game.

I never make a big purchase early on in the Convention - I'd rather wait a few days. My friend and I kept talking about the game all day Thursday, so that by Friday I just had to buy the game. I stopped over early on Friday and bought the game! Uwe mentioned he was running demo's that night - so my friend and I decided to head over with my copy of the game and learn how to play.

He was swamped by people who wanted to play the game! Luckily I had brought my copy with me - as he had to get more copies for everyone who was there. While I was punching out the pieces to the game, we noticed one of the sheets of counters had not been cut properly. When Uwe saw the condition of the counters - he told me to stop over the next day and he'd replace them.

The game mechanics are simple and elegant and I am so glad I picked a copy up at GenCon. After talking to Uwe about the future to the game - I know I'll be picking up future expansions. The future is very bright.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It's a bit hazy over here as I am still waiting for my preorder from July....

July? That may be the problem, as preorders through L2 were announced as ending as of June 30. (posted by Art on June 10 over at Consimworld: "The pre-pub pricing will be honored until the end of June so please get your payments in now.")

(A) It's L2's problem if they still keep the order site up. In fact, I think that page may -still- be up, and the page itself that takes preorders says nothing about dates.

but..

(B) People who "pre-ordered" even up to early August are reporting that they've received e-mails saying their game has shipped. So I think Dan should still be ok and should receive the game this week or next.

The pre-order page is still up here:
http://www.l2designgroup.com/Conflict/CoH1.html

There's also a 2nd L2 page where you can "pre-order" the game here:
http://www.l2designgroup.devellab.com/

While the first of those pages says "Shipping in June", it does not list any cut-off date for pre-orders.

The second page gives no dates whatsoever regarding the game, and still lists the price at the discounted $60 price.
