A fellow geek needs your help...

Right now is a tremendously exciting time for us because of the great reception Say Anything has been getting from our fellow game geeks as well as several mass market buyers. Not only does Say Anything have an average rating of 7.34 from 146 BGG users, but Target and Borders have decided to test it in some of their stores! If sales are sufficient, it will get rolled out nationally for next year.

Some people support our industry by only purchasing games at their FLGS. Others purchase independent games from mass market outlets to encourage them to carry something more than the latest re-themed Monopoly. We understand both positions. In this case, it would be more helpful to us if Say Anything were purchased from a Target test location. I have included the test locations below in case one is near you.

Another option is to purchase the game from your favorite FLGS, and send the following list to non-gamer friends and family who do not realize that hobby game stores even exist (we've found these people to be unlikely to search for one - even after asking where to purchase W&W).

Thanks!
Dominic, Satish, & Luke

--------- [edit] ---------

This posting lead to several side conversations with people who are frustrated with how mass market retailers are driving local hobby stores out of business. I want people to know that we negotiated with Target in order to make sure our games are sold at the full MSRP. While Target might have a week long sale, you will not see our games listed for less than the same MSRP that we give to your hobby game store. Furthermore, we sell our games to Target at the same price that we give to our hobby game distributors (Alliance, ACD, etc).

Hasn't this been out for like 20 years or something? I think the only thing I remember about it was Joan Cusack holding up the ghetto blaster and the song from Peter Gabriel.

This is great news.

We played this for the first time last week with some nongamers at church. As soon as it was over they asked where I got it. But when you start talking about online stores, many people's eyes glaze over.

Being able to tell them to go to Target will almost guarantee you some sales.

I'll probably be stopping into the Okemos Target and buying a copy (or two) as a gift for someone. Oh, and while we're on the subject...

Wierd that I just came accross this thread. I was at Target today and checked on a whim to see if Say Anything was being placed in stores. It wasn't, and my Target is not on the list, but it is cool to see that the process has started.

Wow, thanks to everyone for all of the support! I did not expect to get so much immediate interest in this.

Ben, I love your poster... I hope it is ok if I steal it and make a few changes.

I just picked this one up from B&B as I didn't know when it would hit Target. I am hoping to get a game in this weekend. I also picked up Wits & Wagers as well!

Good luck!

Would it do any good to call our Target that doesn't have it and say, "Hey, the store 50 miles from here has it--why don't you?"

I love the sentiment! We'll roust em up a bit. devil

Unfortunately, this wouldn't do any good. Target only changes their store layouts twice a year: January and August.

Two words: Emergency Gift.

Now we're talking! We've found that Say Anything goes over awesome with your average non-gamer.

Congrats guys. I'd go get one if there were a closer Target with it.

Is there a set price for all stores or does it vary by region?

Our deal with Target is that they always sell W&W for the normal MSRP of $30 and Say Anything for the normal MSRP of $25. This is important because we want do not want Target to undercut the hobby game stores which are essential to the health of our industry.

Well, it never hurts, but the individual stores do not make the decision what to carry.

Next time you're talking with them, tell 'em to open up a few stores north of the border, will ya? We like to spend money too, eh.

I'll be picking up my copy sometime in the next few weeks. Unfortunately it will be from a fellow Geek. Good for us, but not necessarily for Dom.

On the plus side, I'm planning to try it on a big party game group who bought a few copies of W&W after I introduced it to them. So my fingers are crossed.
