As most of you already read on Boardgamenews, I am proud to announce an Australian Language edition of LeHavre.
We learned from our mistakes with Agricola, where the English plough faction badly lobbied against the American plow faction. Therefore there won’t be an English version. And neither an American version. We decided to do an Australian language version, with all due respect to inappropriate cursewords woven into the rulebook.
At SPIEL Essen, there will be a full German version and a full Australian version available, both made in Germany and being published by Lookout Games. Suggested Retail Price will be 42.95€, but we'll have some Essen special deals for you, like 3 for 100.

You don't have a "Speaks Canadian" microbadge, but you speak my language fluently.

You could ask two other Spiel visitors (e.g. friends) if they're interested in buying a copy and then buy three games together. You'd all save about €10.

So the final version of the game will be sold at Essen?? I thought the game was still in development and would be released only in early 2009...

Hanno, can we make pre-orders to pick up at Essen?

Yes..it would be good to know if it is necessary (and possible to preorder for Essen). This game is quickly growing to be No.1 on my hunt list at Essen this year and as an expat-Aussie I couldn't be happier to have an Australian edition

Yes. So far, no other publisher involved. Still, this should not be a distribution issue, as I suppose the usual suspects (Funagain, Boards&Bits, Boulder) will carry the game for US customers.

Wow, between the very positive early reviews and the success of Agricola, I thought this one would be a no brainer with publishers scrambling to pick it up! I wonder why no one is stepping up?

Oh, that was our own choice. We wanted to get it done on our own schedule.
We might find a co-publisher for later print runs.

Maybe no-one was invited?

Edit: LOL. Apparently it took me THAT LONG to respond.

Ah, I see. I didn't think about the extra time it would take to work with other publishers.

And other translations? What is the schedule for other international releases?

(Your west-neighbours for example)

I honestly don't know.
There might be a French and a Dutch version, but the appropriate publisher(s) will take care of their schedule themselves. I can just talk about the editions Lookout Games is doing, and this is German and Australian.
