When I order a game and a tracking number is provided, I frantically track it. I mean, every hour or so I keep watching where it's at and having fun at it. Heck, tracking a game is part of the fun! When it finally arrives, I restrain myself from ordering another one... hoping I get another tracking number
Doctor, help me

Sounds normal to me. I recommend checking the tracking a bit more frequently though... try it every 5 minutes or less.

Habs fan eh?cry You need something to do in the winter, ever try curling??
Well Since the only decent NHL team in your country up and moved to Colorado and then won the cup (how many times??) I can see how this would be called entertainment.cry

I'd say order games from places farther away, maybe direct from Germany, choose "surface shipping" and wait it out with NO TRACKING NUMBER AT ALL!!
That should do the trick.angry

FWIW: (actually I call this normal, but I don't know if this is the correct group to be asking about "normal")

Just tell her she needs to be careful when she does this. You might order another copy of the game since it looked like the first one got lost.

I enjoy tracking games as well. I just check each morning and evening, though.

Lately I've been making most purchases from TimeWellSpent, and their warehouse is close enough for me to pick the games up. I order them online in the morning, and pick them up later in the day. Even better than tracking!

I know the problem. But then again I also check BGG every 5 minutes (or less, seriously) to see if there is an update in the threads or games that I follow =]

So, yes, you are sick, but so are we! laugh

There's a firefox plugin that you can set to auto refresh a particular page every xx seconds or minutes. I don't think I've used it for boardgame tracking before, but it would come in handy if you always want to see the latest.

Set it to 1 minute and everytime you look at that window/tab you'd have latest info

Now that I think of it, someone could buy a 2nd monitor and could have that tracking page sitting perminately on the 2nd monitor while doing other things on the primary monitor. I've seen LCD monitors under $100.

Think of it this way: A tracking number costs about $40, some are more, some are like $200.

But they all come with free games!

Hah! When (like me) one is employed by Danish Post, one has access to the secret, super-accurate, employee-only tracking application that gives you all the information only hinted at by our regular customer-oriented tracking app. Talk about unlimited power! Muahahahaha!!

(I hardly ever use it to track my own game packages, honestly!)

There is a package tracker dashboard widget for OS X, so you can set up all the outstanding ones and just flip to dashboard periodically. Since it supports quite a wide variety of tracking saves a lot of fiddling about with tracking websites.

edit: oh look! One of the shipments just made it out of customs.
