Ooh a little higher, now a bit to the left, a little more, a little more, just a bit more. Oooh yes, that's the spot!

Is Attila the Stockbroker still performing? I saw a show of his at the Edinburgh Festival some years ago.

Hahahaha, your story is hilarious. I enjoyed it a lot and I´m sorry for you. Maybe for an expert of your caliver on history, a little Latin learning would have been a good choice to avoid this disgrace.

Not sure if it's the worst wargame ever, though.
It is.

No, it is not. I can tell you a thousand of euros that are far worst wargames than agricola.
In fact in my first game of agricola last week, I almost punched on the face my friend for taking the last white discs (I played the game in spanish and don´t know how you call that) on the last turn of the game preventing me to upgrade my hole house.

Sir,
it seems you are behind in the "Intelligence" gathering part of your operation. Quote:

The last F117 has been phased out of active service quite some time ago.

If by some time ago, you mean April of this year, then you are correct.

ROFL! This was absolutely hilarious!

But that one commenter was correct. This was about Juluis Agricola's retirement years.

Did't you see the special, slightly larger, wooden token with the Imperial Legion logo on it? The grey one? That's supposed to be the aged general himself.

Hold on Tiger! You rant has nothing to do with the gameplay. Your fixed on the non-historical part of it! Seems like you based your review on what you INVISIONED the game covering as opposed to what the game represented which I have to defend the game....It was not developed for a historical play nor did the description digress from the game inside!!!

you do understand the word "agricola" meant farmer long before the Agricola as you know ever came along right? soblue sorry to hear that you were under false pretenses before you purchased!
and by the way..you gotta show some love for Publius Cornelius Scipio Africanus, he defeated Hannibal and saved Roma from nearly a definitive defeat of the second punic bellum.
anyway, funny thread, but unfortunately they were referring to the farmers of the day which i agree yeilds the epitome of snore and lame.
take care!

Bemusingly enough... I evaded the game because I thought it was a Roman Legion style wargame... aheh...

Didn't someone publish many a year ago an actual wargame about and called Agricola?

The closest that I'm aware of would be this game:

"Druid (Boudicca's Rebellion, 61 A.D.)"

http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/5038

Unfortunately, the linky things don't seem to be working right this second.

The title is very misleading. I think that geeks with actual interest in the Druids would find very little here to get excited about. This is really a wargame, and it's during the period of Agricola's career. They would have been better off focusing on the legions, as who in their right mind would want to command an army of peasants? (This joke is close captioned for the humor impaired. The emoticons don't seem to be working right now)

Not much of a review of the game itself, but humorous nonetheless. Good job for taking a very unusual angle on a game
