Poll: Do you preview before you submit a post
Maybe it is habit but I tend to preview most of my posts before I post them, only the very simplistic replies do I feel rebelious and just go straight ahead and click submit.
Do you preview a post before you submit?

Never
Rarely
Only when I do something different
Sometimes
About half the time
Most of the time
All the time

I find when I don't preview, I normally end up going back and editing the post.

Always. What's the point of communicating if you don't do so comprehensibly? I also have a Firefox plugin that highlights any word not in it's dictionary (which I have just now discovered how to add to...)

Indeed it does not. I said I previewed, I didn't say I perfected. I preview because I make mistakes.

If I could preview before submitting an image (Is this the image you meant?), I would have fewer screw ups.... blush

Text? Yes, always.

Straightforward text, no. I can read that fine in the box I typed it into. If I want to use an emoticon other than a smiley, a game link, or insert an image, I usually do preview. But I don't do that too often.

Only when adding pictures and stuff like that.

I make mistakes. Sometimes I fix them.

Whatever.

I am a two fingered typist who often makes mistakes so I have found that I SHOULD always preview since I do not want to present my thoughts as slipshod even though my typing often is. blush

Not only do I preview, but if I'm going to write something over a couple paragraphs long, I'll do it in some other editor (usually OpenOffice), save it, then re-read a couple hours later before submitting. I catch even more screw-ups that way: otherwise when I preview, I'll just be reading what I meant to say, and not what I actually typed.

After all, I know I'm an idiot, but I don't see why I should advertise the fact for every one else to see.

(PS is "anal-retentive" hyphenated? )

If it's plain text, I just read it in the text window. If it's anything else, formatting, smileys, whatever, I preview.

If I don't preview, I still read the post as soon as it appears. Sometimes I still find typos, and occasionally odd combinations of punctuation create an unintended smiley.

Lots of times, I preview and then decide that the post just isn't worth posting...kind of like this one!
