I understand that this is primarily an aviator's game, but how in depth are the naval rules? I want a pacific theatre game that does a good job simulating carrier battles but with air/naval rules that I don't need a sliderule to figure out in practice. I'm looking for a game with a moderate amount of detail (more then SWWAC but less then Seekrieg 5) with enough strategic depth to keep me interested, as well as a realistic playtime (>12 hours). I've been looking at Command at Sea, Second World War at Sea, Seekrieg 5, Battleship Captain, etc. but most of these are pretty intimidating since this is my first foray into naval warfare. If this is not a game for me either, can anyone recommend an alternative? I appreciate the help. Cheers!

J.D. Webster is more into aerial combat games, so I would expect this to be a detailed air game.

For Carrier battles I would suggest the following: Flat Top
This is a Craig S. Taylor game, dedicated to the Carrier battles. Game plays in 4-6 hours, depending on scenario, and is fairly intuitive. Weather can be quite important in this one.

Here's another suggestion, but it is only one battle, Coral Sea.

"Scratch One Flat Top!"
