A few weeks ago, our family played Stone Age and I mentioned the scores in an obscure post in the convention forums. My eight-year-old son has excitedly asked me if anyone has commented on it yet. Multiple times. I am now posting the results in a more public place for all to see.

Me 209
Husband 161
Eight-year-old child 235

He beat us soundly. It's officially out there. For all to see.

Comments would be greatly appreciated by the aforementioned child.

Congratulations to the high score. I only have 4 games under my belt but I don't think I have half as many points as that in my highest game.

My highest score is 204 in about 5 or 6 games, and that mostly with my own kids. Let him have his time in the limelight.

Anyone know if Twin Galaxies keeps track of high scores at Euro boardgames? :-)

Hey, I created a thread to discuss this here:

Ha! Actually, I'd played a two player game at Origins, and the family had played three four-player games previously. I've noticed that the scores are markedly higher with fewer players.

This is the first time that he picked a strategy and went for it. He had great dice rolls, and he somehow managed to pick up more cards than I thought was humanly possible. At one point, my husband eyed his stack suspiciously and questioned whether he had really accumulated that many cards. He really had.

Basically, we underestimated him, and by the time we realized what he was doing, it was too late.

He admitted that a few of the chunks of points at the end were luck; he had the right cards and the right variables in place (for example, he wasn't going for a card/food track strategy, but he got major points there).

Well congrats to him. If he wasn't getting the usual parental "are you sure you want to do that" and he kicked your arse then a job well done!

Well done, and maybe next time you can have a picture taken of the winning game for everyone here to see.

Keep up the good work, and don't forget to let your parents win from time to time!

I asked Shane what his strategy was, and I'm typing for him now:

"My strategy was, at first I tried to get as much wood as I could. Then I tried to get green cards. And after I had eight of them, I had an instant 64 points. Then, I just tried to get as many points as I could after that, by buying huts and other cards. Also, every chance that I could, I used the food track. Then, I didn't have to pay any food and I didn't have to worry about that anymore. I also got two babies at the end because I had the right cards for it."
