Hi all! I have been offered a HABA (USA) game of my choice and I don't know what to choose (it is from Haba so I need to choose something currently in print). Right now, I have almost every (in-print) Haba game that I have wanted so don't know what to choose.

So, I am asking for some advice here, please .

I do not want:
- a memory (or mostly) memory game
- only for really young kids (got plenty of these)

I am more interested in:
- higher replayability
- playable by 2 players (or more)
- suitable for older players, even adults unless the game is really super-unique & fun for younger kids
- more of a game than a toy unless really super-unique & fun with good replayability

So, of the games I do not have, my list has boiled down to:
1. Schilde Shildkrote (replayability?)
2. Burg-Ritter/Castle Knights (replayability?)
3. Koffer-detektive (memory?)
4. Insel der Schmuggler
5. In the Country
6. Schloss Slotterstein (replayability?)
7. Ghost Hunters (not for 2?)
8. Die Kullerbande/Rolling Gang
9. Casino Hot Dog (new in 2008, not on BGG yet)
10. Mice Rally/Mause Rallye (I think this would be my first choice if it is available because of the high & many ratings...I see it on the Haba USA website - what does everyone think?)

I am leaning toward Insel or Mice Rally.

Some of these games don't have a lot of comments or reviews so any further insight/advice will be greatly appreciated! tia!

Well, I don't have a lot of the games that you're asking about. I do have Schoss Schlotterstein and wouldn't recommend it. It's really cute, but hasn't captured our imagination. Schilde Schillkrote is in my closet waiting for Christmas and it has a number of different games that you can play with it, I have seen the turtles sold individually at stores and they're pretty cool. But I can't account for the game itself.

I would recommend BurgRitter, because I've never seen a cooperative dexterity game before so it would be quite different feeling, or Mouse Rally, because I've heard very good things about it. I looked at your collection and I didn't see Kayanak. Have you thought about it? The few times we've pulled it out people have gone crazy to give it a go.

OH...and congratulations! Free games, what fun!!!

I have experience with only one of those games on your list--Mouse Rally (or however it's spelled in German). And I didn't like it at all. It was utter chaos.

Hi! yes, I did visit that list to find some more feedback on the games...it is a great list .

So, thanks, everyone for the replies. Good to know about Schloss & Mouse Rally and I am going to put Kayanak on my wish list.

I have decided to try for Insel der Schmuggler as it seems to be the most regular game and I am holding off on more dexterity games for now. Although, I was very tempted by the unknown Casino Hot Dog, based on the name! CASINO HOT DOG

Mouse Rally is a great game and almost impossible to find. If it's not too late, grab that one.

Burg-Ritter is also a lot of fun. And consider Klondike and Treasure, Ready, Go!.

For game-playing purposes, we're usually 3 adults and an 11 year old. But we have lots of friends age 5 and up and all of these games have been big hits generally.

Truthfully, I think that the only good-for-adults-too Habas will be the dexterity games.

Thanks, smithhemb! They have Mouse Rally on their USA page of games right now...which doesn't list too many games at all. I wonder if it is being released again? I will have to write to them about it. Part of my dilemma with this is that I have recently gone on a buying binge and bought a lot of games, including available Habas such as Klondike & Jungle Treasure (similar to Auf die Schatze)! I have wanted them for a while & I figured I'd better get them now before they became unavailable!
