Like water spilled on the ground, which cannot be recovered, so we must die. But God does not take away life; instead, he devises ways so that a banished person may not remain estranged from him. 2 Sam 14:14

You can buy Agricola and Animeeples together for the low, low price of $80.36?!

I think I paid a whopping $45 for both. I sure am glad I know about BGG!

They look similar to the ones that Tanga was just selling for $12.
$10 if you bought 3 sets.
The MSRP on those sets are $15.

They're not Agricola Animeeples.

They are wooden animal sets.

What's the difference?

The difference is that one is an official Agricola product, with CE certification and support from the manufacturers of the game. Revenue goes to support the game's manufacturer and creator and therefore helps with the ongoing viability and survival of the publisher and designer.

The other is using the name Agricola without any of the appropriate licensing, and which does not advertise any of the appropriate safety testing.

Where would you buy your Rolexes?

Or let me put it another way:

If I called those "Carcassonne figures" it would be wrong. And I would be ripping off all the people who bought them, believing that they were Carcassonne figures. (FWIW, I think it would also be wrong to call them "Meeples for Carcassonne" although that would be more moral territory than outright misrepresentation)

BTW, The shop that sells the pictured pieces calls them "Carcassonne look-alike figures" - I am not suggesting that they are trying to rip anyone off!.

Meh. The Carcassonne Meeple is an iconic figure that has been around for 8 years and is widely recognized.

The "Agricola Animeeples" are just randomly selected off-the-shelf animal shaped wooden pieces. They are nothing unique. In fact the pig is straight from Carcassonne!

At least the Mayday ones were custom designed.

This is not correct.

The wild boar is licensed from Hans im Glueck and is produced especially for Agricola..

The cattle and sheep were designed and produced especially for Agricola. They are only available through Lookout Games.

On second thoughts, meh, it's just a boardgame.

Nothing to comment here.
