The board's really making me think of a Piecepack board. By any chance is this an evolution of a Piecepack game or perhaps Piecepack sets were used in the design process?

I just finished watching the Dice Tower's video review on the Piecepack system and wish I had known about this when I was designing PoC! The original tile pieces used in prototype were made from 3/4" black plastic cut to the size of square floppy disk labels which I used to print the various terrains and then paste onto the tiles. I had to place a minimum order that left me with two boxes of unused black tiles - what a waste! (email me if interested in purchasing!) The tiles that come with the game are high quality cardboard, not the wood tiles that come with Piecepack, but again, I would have used this in prototype if only I would have known!
