Hello,

How intense in reflection is 2 de Mayo? how much do you have to think throughout the game (at the beginning, middle, and end)?

A way of expressing the "density of thinking" required by 2 de Mayo would be to locate it in the following scale (which includes only short games that I played), which approximately goes from the most dense to the least dense:

- Race for the Galaxy (a lot of constant thinking, at both the strategic and tactical levels)
- Dominion
- Schotten-Totten / Battle-Line
- Samurai
- Through the Desert
- Colossus Arena
- Mr Jack
- Scarab Lords
- Lord of the Rings: the Confrontation
- Jambo
- Blue Moon
- Iliade
- Coloretto (most casual reflection, mostly tactical)

The current BGG game weight is 2.17, which puts 2 de Mayo close to Mr Jack/Colossal Arena. Does anybody confirm this? I wonder about people's impressions of the "density of thoughts" you put in the game: the numerical weight only sheds a small beam of light on this question...

Any suggestion would be much appreciated!

[Edits: changes in the scale, details about the current game weight.]

If you like Lord of the Rings: the Confrontation,
you'll Love 2dM.
Same feel, plays quicker and in my opinion more elegant.

Hope that helps

Thanks for the information! Are you implying that both games require about as much thinking? or does one of them put you more often on your toes?

I would suggest that they both have similar Game Weight.
They are both card driven,
Hidden Movement,
2 player
Fun.

For me, 2dM is the beter game. But that could be because of the historical rather than fantasy roots! Apart from that my above comments apply.

I have posted a session report which should give you a very good idea of the game (I hope!).

I'll take Manhattan in a garbage bag. With Latin written on it that says "It's hard to give a shit these days"

I'd say it's a little lighter than The Confrontation, but not by much.
