Hi,

Does anyone know when the PR expansion is being reprinted?

I've been told by Games Surplus that it is not due out until 1st quarter of 2009.

Is there any advantage in waiting for it to come out vs. chasing down an existing set? I know someone who'd like to have one now, and you can still find them on eBay for about $11. I think that's more than I paid for mine, but I'm not sure.

*bumping because of renewed interest*

As of right now, it's First Quarter 09, and I still haven't found new copies of it. All the websites I visit claim out of stock, and even Ebay has no listings soblue

Hopefully by bumping this thread more people will be on the lookout for when the expansion reprint happens and becomes available Until then, I hope to maybe get lucky and find it.

There are a few on eBay right now going for around 19 including shipping. Not worth it IMO, just wait for the reprint.

The expansion will be part of the 10 Jahre Alea - Schatzkiste, due April 2009.

A box of expansions? Hmmmm.

At first, I couldn't justify spending the money for 10 expansions just to get one.

But, are any of the other games good? Because, well, getting those other expansions for 5 other games is pretty decent incentive to get those other five games

Just been on the Rio Grande website and the expansion's status is noted as being:- 'Will Be Released/Reprinted'. Bit vague, especially as some people seemed to think it'd be available to purchase again by the 1st quarter of 2009.

Does anyone else have any more news regarding this because it seems to have gone pretty quiet?

Can't find existing copies anywhere.

Oh man, I was hoping it was something new.

Now it isn't worth it for me to buy the Alea box for the expansion for three of the games.

Grrr.

EDIT: It seems, there are new buildings as well along with colonists.

It includes the nobles expansion as well. I don't believe that was included in the other PR expansion with new buildings, was it?

The 15 new Noblemen's Buildings (two each of 7 small plus 1 large) are well worth the price of the expansion!

So just to clarify, is the Puerto Rico expansion that's part of the RGG 10 year 'Treasure Chest' collection:-

1. exactly the same as the original expansion?

2. the original expansion plus additions?

3. a completely different expansion to the original?

You will get the original Puerto Rico expansion plus a new one
plus a whole range of expansions for other alea/Rio Grande Games.

The reason why the original PR expansion is included in the box has to do with the German original expansion which was only available by buying the spielbox game magazine.

So by including it in the box makes it available to a lot of German buyers, who may not have had a chance to get it.

The reason for RGG to keep in the box is most likely a matter of cost: it probably doesn't cost extra to include it, and it may actually have been more expensive to remove it.

And in any case will there still be many Puerto Rico fans all over the world, who doesn't have the RGG expansion yet - because they never have had the chance to get the expansion.

Don't pay too much for this. It was < $4 when it was in the stores and frankly, it didn't really add much value to the game.

I will have a copy of the original expansion available to a good home after the reprint if someone is genuinely only interested in that content.

(as I have all the Alea games, the Treasure Chest is a must have for me)
