It whistles, and it has an extra pair of legs! THAT'S FRICKIN CREEPY!
No, that's not a Photoshopped picture! THAT'S THE REAL THING! And kids "play" with them by making them fall off of trees! I would "play" with them using a shotgun/chainsaw combo like I showed everyone yesterday.
One of my rules of thumb that any insect that is larger than my FRIGGIN HAND should be avoided at all costs. Seriously! Who picks these things up?
So, if you see something that looks like a giant alien chestburster, what's your first thought? Is it to PICK IT UP? Hell no! If Ripley taught us anything, it's to pull out your flamethrower when you encounter something like that. Frankly, that thing looks like it could swallow my head, and that's another indication to avoid it by whatever means possible.

I made the mistake of clicking through to the full article. It gave me the shivers. I think I lost a few points of sanity for those giant spiders.

Awww! I think I just found my Spirit animal.
I like the Hairy Nosed Wombat as well
But the internets have corrupted me, because when looking at those pics all I can think of are LOLcat captions...

It's a Giant Coconut Crab, so named because they can crack open a coconut with one claw swipe. Does anyone else realize that a coconut and a HUMAN HEAD are about the same size?
EDIT: Oh Jesus, here's one on a TREE:

It's about a $3,000 fine to eat one. They must be damn tasty to elicit that large of a fine!

I'm still betting that the trash can pic is photoshopped. Giant Coconut Crabs are real, but this still seems way too big. According to wikipiedia, "Reports about the size of Birgus latro vary, but most references give a body length of up to 40 cm (16 in), a weight of up to 9 lb (4.1 kg), and a leg span of more than 3 ft (0.91 m), with males generally being larger than females. It is believed that this is near the theoretical limit for a terrestrial arthropod." That thing looks a lot bigger than 9 pounds or 16 inches.

Keep in mind that they are only talking about the body length here. That doesn't include the giant pincers.
I love the bit about the theoretical limit. I've always wondered about that.

When you see lobsters in a tank, they are generally around one to two pounds and they are a good 12 inches long or so.
