OK, I'm selling a bunch of stuff on Ebay - mostly games (board, roleplaying, miniatures) to make money and to reduce clutter.

One game I'm selling is The Generals from 1980. You know, the one that was like Stratego, but used an electronic arbiter so you didn't have to show your piece. Well, I didn't think it would really go for very much. Well it is already up to $26.00 shake And there's still a couple of days left on the auction.

So tell me, why is this ancient piece of technology so popular? What's the deal with this? I don't get it. I like it, but I don't get it.

I wasn't aware of that version. Sounds cool, I'd like to have a copy.

Nostalgia? I fondly remember playing this game from my youth and would love to have a working copy of it to play with my son. So, I can see why someone would want one. Now whether or not it would be as much fun as it was when I was a kid...

Electronic Stratego usually hits about a 30-50% higher price than The Generals; however, the latter game is hugely popular with filipinos [I've sold 2 or 3 of them in the last year], which drives the price on it--mine went for around $30-35, though you may see a 15-25% premium on that thanks to the xmas shopping craziness. Electronic Stratego, which is a big pain in the ass to ship, usually hits $50+....

[Read the description of the game here for the connection with the Philippines.]
