Everybody has his favorite game. But which game would you choose if you were only with 2 players or with 3 players?
So shortly said: which game would you like to play the most if you play with 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7+ players

2 player game: DVONN simply because it's my all time favorite abstract games and abstract games are usually the best 2-player games to my opinion.

3 player game: Tikal because from all my favorite games it's the only one that plays the best with 3. (My own design Wind River was not taken into consideration for this list)

4 player game: On the underground. Most games are very good with four players, so it's hard to choose a favorite here. I choose On the underground, but it could have been In the shadow of the Emperor, since they're both fantastic with 4.

5 player game: Here I definately go for Liberté. Hoera for chaos! Global Powers is the first runner up (chaos again).

6 player game: It's not Power Grid (six is to much to my opinion) or Diplomacy which needs 6 or 7 players to be good. No, with 6 players I would definately go for the best racing game ever: Breaking Away.

7+ player game: Diplomacy without a doubt!

I'm very curious to see your choices. So come on and post them.

Interesting, okay here are mine

2 player: Agricola since I can play this at home with my wife and we both have a great time playing.

3 player: San Marco would be my choice here. I like the I divide and the two of you need to choose concept.

4 player: Puerto Rico would probably be my favorite with 4 players.

5 player: Santiago is an awesome game that I really only want to play with 5.

6 player: Shadows over Camelot and a good chance there is a traitor is just great with a group of 6.

7 player: Apples to Apples maybe? I don't think I have ever played a game with 7 players or more. I can see that games like Diplomacy or Civilization might be great but I have, unfortunately maybe, never tried them.

ok, here goes, my picks will change depending on the mood and game group

2 player game: Jambo is easy to explain and is a lot of fun

3 player game: Wyatt Earp should only be played 3p

4 player game: so many games to choose from, I'll go for El Grande today

5 player game: again, so many games Age of Empires III: The Age of Discovery will probably be my game of choice

6 player game: we usually get Bootleggers to the table then, I bought the 6th player expansion for Age of Empires III: The Age of Discovery recently, wonder how that's gonna play.

7+ player game: Saboteur or The Werewolves of Miller's Hollow (needs at least 8)

Oh, gosh. Kind of hard to decide here, especially for the lower numbers.

(1 player Arkham Horror)
2 player: Carcassonne. One of the tougher choices for me to make; lots of good games here.
3 player: Through the Ages: A Story of Civilization, hands down
4 player: Tichu. This is the hardest one to pick, because so many games have a sweet spot of 4.
5 player: Lord of the Rings
6 player: Battlestar Galactica: The Board Game
7-8 player: Shadows over Camelot with Shadows over Camelot: Merlin's Company
9-10 player: Slide 5

I must add that I love Race for the Galaxy and would play it with 2, 3, or 4!

2p: Go
3p: Ra
4p: Hmmm...E&T or Power Grid
5p: Amun-Re
6p: Citadels (probably not best with 6, but I don't have many games that go that high!)
7p, 8p: Diamant (although this is just a filler, so we'd have to split up for more games if we want to fill an evening)

Nice thread. Here we go...

2) Scrabble - A no brainer.

3) Ra/Alhambra

4) Stone Age/Notre Dame - The hot games with me at the moment.

5) Medici/Power Grid/Space Alert

6) Shadows Over Camelot

7) Bang!/Diamant

8) 6 Nimmt!

Lord of the Rings can substitute any of the 2-5 player games. Even 6 players with the Sauron expansion.

Sorry, it was too hard to choose just one game for each category.

Some of these are really, really tough to choose:

2: TZAAR. Simply my favourite of the Gipf games. Battle Line is a close second.
3: Ghost Stories: White Moon. I like this game anywhere from 2 to 4 players.
4: Defenders of the Realm. Another game that's good anywhere from 2 to 4 players. I'm just not into the solitaire thing.
5: Cyclades. Gotta love Greek Mythos themes...
6: Dixit. Fun, fun game. Good for gamers or non-gamers IMO.
7: BANG! The Bullet!. Can't go wrong with a classic.
8: Shadow Hunters. Fast play with 8 people. Fun.
9+: Ultimate Werewolf: Ultimate Edition. Werewolf takes it from here up...

My 2 cents...

2. Kamisado. Best abstract ever.
3. Alhambra. Tough call, but I'll go with my highest rated.
4. Agricola is probably best with four, in terms of time wise. I like having more resources as in the five player game but four is a challenge.
5. Chinatown. Max players for max noise
6. Age of Empires III: The Age of Discovery. My collections are almost built around 6 player game nights, AOE III is the only one with its depth at the six player level.
7. Shadow Hunters. The only ones I have that ply this much are Bang!, Kutschfahrt, Miss Poutine, 6 Nimmt, Ricochet Robots, Incan Gold, and Fearsome Floors. Second place would go to Incan Gold.
