Let's say that you left your chapstick in your pocket and it went through the washing machine. However, it gets discovered before it goes through the dryer, so it is still intact.

Would you use it?

Keep in mind, it's YOUR chapstick, not someone else's.

I say, it's just been washed and rinsed and now it's even more clean and ready to use.

My husband, on the other hand, think I'm really gross.

Poll
Would you continue to use your chapstick after it's been washed in the washing machine?
Yes, I would like it even better because it's clean!!
Yes, I see no problem with it.
Yes, but I wouldn't like it.
Well, it depends on what it was washed with.
No, it's probably not sanitary.
No, eeww, that is so disgusting!! who knows what was in that wash?? Are you insane??

I've done this, no problem. Usually the cap keeps a seal.

I've even used it after its been through the dryer! Just smear the stain on my shirt across my mouth and my lips are nice and unchappy.

Most problems can be solved with either a stiff drink, a bowel movement, or a bullet.

I'd say it depends ENTIRELY on what it was washed with. For instance, if washed with the underwear you wore the day after the Cinco de Mayo party, you don't want to put that on your lips.

Come to think of it, I usually throw that underwear out anyway.

It depends greatly on the condition of the chapstick.
I've seen a stick come out largely unchanged - this I would use again.
On the other hand, I've seen a stick come out as something other than chapstick - some sort of chapstick/detergent amalgam - this I would not use again.

I suppose it depends on how tightly the cap fits on the tube. If you've got a good seal, you're probably ok.

I guess it depends on how used-up the Chapstick was. If it was down to the nub I could see myself throwing it away, but it's just so damn expensive I can't see myself chucking a whole tube just because some perfume and detergent got on it and I rub it directly on my mouth.

I, for one, am glad to know that it gets washed once in a while. That uncertainty has been weighing heavily on my mind as of late.

So for everyone that said they would never use that chapstick again: how can you stand to wear laundered clothes? It's the same thing, right?

I'm reminded of that scene in 3 Amigos where Chevy Chase's character (Dusty Bottoms?) offers Steve Martin and Martin Short lip balm after he dumps the canteen of water over himself and tosses the rest away.

I'd post the youtube video but...meh...
