200 of the same? 200 different? Standard games people are familiar with? Euro-games? Give us some details.

Are the booths shaped like Vipers? Egyptian theme? Moffit waiters?

Ask the main online sellers - Game Surplus, Boards & Bits, etc.
Inquire about ding and dent items and prices.

Also check out the auctions and hot deals forums.

eBay is not the hobbyists gathering place it once was but look it over.

If you can find someone getting out of gaming you might get a great deal on their whole collection (or "there hole colection" if you've been following the grammar gripe list.)angry

Where will you establish this Mecca? Inquiring minds want to know!

Try with the publishers Rio Grande, Mayfair and Fantasy Flight. Maybe just only Rio Grande has over 200 games in print. I think that you should ask only one publisher, because the more games you buy to them, the better the price (is just a supposition).

I believe the OED has accepted the common usage of "guys" to refer to a group of people in general, not necessarily all male.

Are the people you want to attract to your bar gamers, casual social people, people who play games for 2, people who play games for 4, people who play party games? Do you want long games? Short games? Mid-length games?

200 is a LOT of games. You may be better off starting off with 100 games and seeing what gets played, then buying more games like those (either multiple copies or similar games.)

I'll come visit if you end up with 200 games. Other places I've been to only have a couple dozen (but then they tend to do very little business... something about business licences that I won't go into).

Edit - And might I suggest the following business model:

Step 1: Buy 200 board games
Step 2: ??????
Step 3: Profit!

You should make a list of the games you want and submit the list to the major online boardgame sellers and let them bid. That is how you will get the best deal, for new games at least.

Chris,
Pozy.com had a $5000 mystery box a few months ago. Contact Pozy and see if they'll sell you a $5000 mystery box. It should be around 200 games.

Here's what they had in the $500 mystery box:

Your biggest hurdle will be s/h. An order of that size would probably need to ship by freight unless it was broken up into smaller shipments which could drive the price up even more.

I'm sure such places as:

www.boardsandbits.com
www.thoughthammer.com
www.gamessurplus.com
www.timewellspent.org

among others would be willing to entertain a serious offers.

You might also try contacting a distributor such as Alliance:

http://www.alliance-games.com/

They're one of the few (only now?) big game distros left in the U.S. and historically have been a pain to deal with but they might get you a nice price.

As others have suggested contacting the manufacturers might also work, but that might not be worth the time or effort and it might be easier to just score a bulk deal from a normal reseller.

Good luck!

thanks dude.

yup. shipping is a serious problem. Luckily i just got a friend who can do the freight for me like 1.6usd per pound. I guess that's the cheapest i can find at this stage.. it takes 5-7 days to arrive. Hope it works

That narrows it down a bit.

Chris, I suggest you talk directly to a wholesaler, not a retailer. With that size of an order, a wholesaler should sort you out, but not on credit. But establishing a direct line to a wholesaler will help you more in the long run. I agree with the comment that shipping is a concern for you.

Cheers,
Jon.

I know Slugfest Games sends out promo games to folks who are willing to demo them and the idea of playing The Red Dragon Inn in an actual bar is just way too funny to pass up.
