Can't they just intercept copies as they come out of the factory? Or is dominion printed in the EU?

Those look like district cards from Citadels, not Dominion cards.

Edit: Yep, after browsing more of the photos, that's definitely Citadels.

Edit #2 : Oops! Never mind - the Dominion cards are buried farther in. Sheesh, is there any materiel that China DOESN'T pirate from europe/the US?

Rio Grande is only using high quality German manufacturers!
And Dominion is no exception.

These days, there is a post in a China board game forum that says this "Chinese replica" of Dominion has better quality than the original edition. The Chinese cards are protected with a plastic film which make them more durable.

Now the situation is that the "Chinese replica" of Dominion are:
1. in customer's native language in China
2. half of the price to the original version.
3. better card quality.

I just want to know how the original copyright owner/designer think of this situation? Can't you do something to fight against this as I am always a supporter to legal board games.

I don't want to see any reply that condemns Chinese consumers who buy those pirate copy games, because that's non-sense here.

And with none of the proceeds going to the original designers/developers.

How do you *think* they feel? If you accept the basic premise of intellectual property law, that a man is entitled to exploit for his own gain the fruits of his creativity and ideas, then as a corollary you have to expect that man to be pretty annoyed if he's getting nothing for his creativity but someone else is able to profit from it. At least, that's how *I* would feel if Dominion were my design.

Of course, this is by no means unique. You don't have to go all the way to China to see games designers' work being published without their permission by someone else hoping to turn a quick buck. I can think of at least two examples in the recent past/immediate future.

I don't think this chinese did the right thing. It is defintely pirate.

I admit that I used to buy some these kinds of boardgames. However, I don't buy them now. The real product has good quality.

So, that's all. But don't blame all chinese. We are boardgamegeeks too. Thanks.
