It's never an easy day for the humans. It's even harder when the Cylons manage to deploy such an organized blow to the fragile human race.

Six characters were in play, pilots Starbuck and Apolo, military leaders Helo and Adama and political leaders Zaek and Baltar. Right the first couple of crisis were huge Cylon assaults. Practically three in a row. Starbuck and Apolo managed to defend most of our civilian ships but the overwhelming amount of Cylon raiders was simply too much to be handled and after a couple of rounds most of our vipers were damaged, two of them completely destroyed, Starbuck and Apolo were in the sickbay and two civilian ships had been destroyed.

Everyone was involved in handling the cylons attacks and making sure we could jump as quick as possible. A very early forced jump did not affect our population. No one died except those couple of civilian ships left behind.

Zaek, as our president, did not do much during this period. He was mostly collecting skill cards and quorum cards. Hopefully doing his job. Right after the first jump we were in shambles already. We had used most of our cards we had all our pilots in sickbay, only one viper operational and an absent minded president. Then we faced a couple of devastating skill checks where lots of political power was needed. Our president refused to help and we failed miserably. Admiral Adama started accusing president Zaek of being a Cylon. All other players seemed to agree. Lee Apolo tried to send Zaek to the brig but our political power was too weak to do anything. Complete failure. Helo hosted a couple of press releases to gain political power but it was too late. Zaek emitted a restraining order and the Admiral was sent to the brig.

Meanwhile Starbuck left the sickbay and went to help at the communication office and help protect our civilian ships. Her movements were very suspicious as some of the civilian ships were deliberately left at risk. From the brig, Ex-Admiral Adama tried to work out his exit but even with the support of Baltar and Helo, Zaek was still much more powerful. The pilots could not help much as both had just been out of the sickbay.

Even amongst the series of crisis systematically failing on our hands and completely unable to fix all the damaged vipers we still managed to override the jump sequence again but this time we lost population on the process. Not much but still, our population levels were going away so quickly and we were not even half way the length to reach Kobol.

The jump was successful and we lost only some fuel on the way. Sleeper agent phase came and Zaek was accused of being a sympathizer and sent to the brig. Starbuck quickly revealed her Cylon nature and damaged Galactica while doing so. Our faster-than-light drive was broken and a couple of people died. Our population levels were now clearly alarming.

With Zaek out of the political picture, ex-admiral Adama managed to get out of the brig and quickly help fixing the faster-than-light drive but before we could even be able to use it, the revealed Cylon Starbuck brought a crisis that we simply couldn't stand a chance and all humankind was lost forever.

An amazing quick victory for the Cylons! At some point we thought the humans wouldn't even make through to the sleeper agent phase. Even with very clear Cylons in play and with most humans convinced about it, it was still as difficult as hell to shape any reaction. The Cylons knew exactly how to hurt us more and were very efficient in that front. Accumulating a lot of political power while everyone else was spending it to protect something here and there was a key strategy to the Cylon players.

In retrospective one of the key mistakes of the humans was not to use Adama's once-in-a-lifetime ability to collect all the cards after a skill check. He was constantly waiting for the "best moment" but it never came. Also, while we were fighting against a political mammoth the other Cylon managed to reveal itself at the right time and humans were evaporated.

Great session report.

It sounds like you didn't know about the errata for the setup instructions; because the order of succession for President should be Roslin, Baltar, Zarek but the setup page says Roslin, Zarek, Baltar you wound up with the wrong initial President. It doesn't sound like that would have helped too much in the long run though.

Wow. This is the polar opposite of the game we played on Wednesday, where the humans ab-so-LUTEly cakewalked past the Cylons. Big reason? Not a single blue ship-launching crisis card.

Two pilots, and all they had to shoot at was the initial board setup.
