It's really not that homoerotic is it? Boys play with GI Joes.

If she had an AK-47 in her hand and camo pants it would be cool right?

She doesn't have kung fu grip. Her fingers don't move because well the hands are too small (for the material) to have joints in them. Some larger dolls have fully jointed hands though. I'll post an example.

I'm a 23yr old adult male. It's my opinion that these dolls in particular are strictly for adults, or very responsible teenagers.

Well, maybe. Creepy in the sense that grown men playing D&D is creepy? Pixie Wizards? Female Half-Elf Rangers? I spent 23 years running a game store... that doll is nothing in comparison.

My reply was more to convey the fact of this being exactly the type of doll that inhabits my nightmares.

So, how many souls do you have to feed her each day? Or does she take care of that herself, quietly slinking out of the house at night?

Holy molly $600.00 for one doll! Hopefully my daughter won't get wind of these dolls until the price becomes reasonable or she's old enough to get a job and pay for them herself.

If you buy them at christmas time, like now, they are cheaper (sort of). Keep in mind this doesn't include eyes, clothes, shoes, wig. You also need some art supplies to do makeup (it's not extraordinarily difficult). Some of the stuff like eyes and wigs you can get as gifts when you purchase your doll. Doll companies love giving gifts! They've even been known to surprise you with an outfit; they're usually very pleasurable to do business with. Knowing how to sew helps (like my gf) as you can then make clothes for them yourself. You can find doll patterns in special doll magazines like Haute Doll for example.

Soony ( http://www.eluts.com/ , DELF) is selling now @ $390. Many doll companies have adjusted their prices due to the recession so the dolls are cheaper than they used to be (when I got my Soony she was more expensive than she is now). Keep in mind this does not include EMS shipping from Korea, which is a bit expensive (I don't know off hand how much but it's a large box). Another great doll company that I know of currently having a sale is Custom House ( http://www.ainai.com/ ), under Basic AI, then click The AI, they range from $270-280. The price also depends on the size of the doll. I prefer the dolls that are around 60cm.

If your daughter might at all be interested best advice I can give is look at various doll companies to find the absolute perfect doll she likes and save up money until christmas. Personally, I spend more money on boardgames through a year than I spend on a single doll. They are hand crafted and often very limited, they also hold their value (often increase in value) so they're totally worth it. Doll collectors are known to make business buying and selling dolls and related things on ebay but please be extremely careful with buying dolls as they could be FAKES. Lots of collectors also make a small side business of doing makeup for other peoples' dolls, or making clothes, etc, and they often do this to help pay for their hobby.

I've seen much creepier dolls among the mainstream stuff.

Only somewhat related, but this reminds me of the questionable content comic the other day:

http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=1298

and, of course, a creepy doll song:

I thought they were rather cool. Although I will admit I was redressing them in armour and adding a few weapons and I had a very credible miniatures session going on... find a few big creatures... use these dolls for an adventuring party and you could rock and roll.

I think Karolyn would have absolutely thought them amazing. She likes her dollies.

She's pretty cool Daniel. I know my daughter would love one (but too young for one at the moment).

You've given us some hints but what kind of work went into that? Is it a matter of buying pieces and putting them together? Are her dress and shoes handmade?

Do you have others (waiting to take over at night and hold tea-parties)?

Anyway, seems interesting but don't just post pictures - give us a story!
