Look! Molecular Biology! Isn't it cool? cool

First up, here's our robot. Okay, the video I took is a lot cooler. Okay, okay, it's way, way better in video. But here it is. You put your stock plate down, and it aliquots that plate into other plates based on how you programmed it. Each plate has either 96 or 384 individual wells in it.




And next up is a standard-sized microscope slide slide with double-stranded RNA printed onto it. I've lit it with green light to make the spots visible. (Nothing special about the green, it just looked better than the other wavelengths for fluorescence on the microscope.) You grow cells on the slide, the cells take up the RNA, which has been designed to knock down a specific gene, then you examine how they behave (grow) without that particular gene. I can't seem to find the better image of this right now...
