I had posted this over on Musings, but decided to repost it here for Christmas Eve. Enjoy!!
Twas the night before Christmas, with all the lights out,
All the family was sleeping, except for the cat no doubt,
No dice to be rolled, no cards were in play,
Tomorrow was Christmas, new games on the way.
He had reviewed all the lists on the Geek,
there were a few top 100 he was wanting to seek,
His closets were full, with printouts and more,
the volume quiet staggering, there’s no closing the door.
Deep in his slumber he let out sigh,
remembering how it started with Ticket to Ride,
The Settlers of Catan had long lost their way,
so many more games they’d all rather play.
Agricola & Rico, Dominion & Race,
So many to play, there was no keeping the pace.
From out of his bed he arose from a snuggle,
still dreaming of that day to play Twilight Struggle.
His wife did he leave, soundly in bed,
content with the dreams of the gamer she wed.
Down the steps did he fly as he let out a cry,
Cthulu is coming, Arkham is at terror level five!
The girls came running, all sleepy and weary,
to find dear dad with El Grande testing a theory!
Christmas had come to a gamer you see,
there’s too little play time we all would agree!
When Christmas comes round with family and friends,
your time is well spent if the TV you suspend,
break out some games with ones who are dear,
there are few better ways to spread the good cheer!
The snobs they may scoff, with disdain they will speak,
for many don’t know the power of the geeks.
The world they run, they things we all treasure,
come from the geeks who provide for the pleasure!
Haha! That's just great! Good work, man! Merry christmas to you and a good new gaming year!
Excellent stuff, I'm waiting for all my new games tomorrow too
This is exactly how I feel around the holidays...
