Hi all,

I love to play SHOGUN and IMPERIAL,
because those games involves mechanic war & economic ("a Euro with the war feel")
Therefore, could you guys recommend me other games that involves these 2 mechanics? with +/- 2 hours play time
and if it's possible average price below USD 29.99

Thank you

I haven't played it yet (own it and read the rules), but Mare Nostrum might fit the bill if it fits in the time frame.

Currently very likely to either be roleplaying or planning to roleplay

Mare Nostrum is an excellent choice (as is Antike - though you really only want both if you're a civ-lite freak like me). Starcraft, Warcraft the Board Game (not the WoW games), Wizard Kings and Galactic Emperor are also a good fits for those criteria. And I'd be remiss without mentioning Attack! and Axis & Allies, though they don't necessarily fit well with the two hour requirement (though neither does Imperial!).

Play Imperial again.

I'm not sure Mare Nostrum fits the bill, actually. It's really not like Imperial, for example. While it does have trading and resource collection, there's no money handling, for instance. The collection and trading may be enough, though, and it certainly seems to fit the bill in other respects.

My vote is easily Antike. I love Imperial, and it was one of my top 5 games, but it was dethroned by Antike. Antike plays very similar to a RTS computer game, but as you described, is more economic than military. The military actions are generally not the main point of the game. If you play and enjoy Imperial, a transition to Antike should be fairly simple as they are quite similar. In Antike, it is also far easier to tell who is winning, and scoring is much more simple.

Blood Feud in New York is definitely a good game. Plenty of territory control and economic engines without the whole battle aspect. Sure, there are small turf wars throughout, but I find it quite enjoyable whenever I had played it.

Check out Struggles of Empires. It doesn't have quite the economic engine, but it is definitely a Euro/ wargame hybrid. Also, it is a great game by any standard.
