Hi guys,
I've always been attracted from both game types: Ancient Rome & racing.
Ancient chariot races seem to be the perfect mix (for me), but I believe that the game Ave Caesar is missing something...

After playing Top Race I found a lot of similarities, so I've started thinking to an adaption of these games (a sort of "fusion").

Here it is personal cardset I've created to be used with Ave Caesar.

My idea is to use original Ave Caesar materials (boards, chariots, coin) and add some more to fit adapted rules (betting sheet and cards).

Due to track lenght (Top Race circuit is twice as longer as Ave Caesar tracks) I thought about running 2 laps with Chariots, placing the Coin near the finish line at the end of first lap.

Ave Caesar Track 1

Ave Caesar Track 2

Top Race Circuit

It's really necessary to define "Tipp Points" on Ave Caesar Tracks.

What do you think about it?
Can't wait to hear your suggestions.

Alessandro,

this is a GREAT idea! I had been tracking Top Race but wanted to stop buying games for a while. Making some cards to play it with Ave Caesar would be fine, though.

These cards don't seem too hard to make, is the composition of the deck written somewhere?

Well, the easiest thing would be determining the half of the track, with a wooden marker, and then make tips after 1/2, 2/2 and 3/2 of the lap.

Having a look at the Top Race track, it seems that tipping points correspond more to 1/5, 2/5 and 3/5 of the lap, with more race left after the last tip. I have never played Top Race, so I don't know how a more symmetric distribution of tipping points would affect play...

Hi Miguel,
I also thought about Tipps like you did:
1st Tipp - Half track (during 1st lap)
2nd Tipp - Starting Line (end of 1st lap) while placing the coin back
3rd Tipp - Half track (during 2nd lap)

Hi Miguel,
I got deck composition from here
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/file/info/14564
They are from Daytona 500 game. (similar to Top Race)

I modified values a little bit... for example I removed movement 9/10 adding some more 5 with "neutral" color. I think it should work.

If have some more suggestion, feel free to post them.
In the meantime I'll post my deck here on BGG to let you review them.

Ciao
Alessandro

Great variant. What is the cardcount for the cards?

Do you have the cards in single .jpg format to make a deck on Artscow.com?
