So... is the origin of "The cake is a lie" from Portal? I'm playing it through for the first time now.

I'm kind of embarrased to have to ask what any self-respecting geek should already know...

5 minute response time? Not bad.

This was a triumph.

MAJOR SPOILER.. don't say I didn't warn you!

Spoiler (click to reveal)
Remember that time when the platform was sliding into the fire pit and I said 'Goodbye' and you were like 'NO WAY!' and then I was all 'We pretended we were going to murder you'? That was great!

If you haven't played Portal, all I can say is WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR???

It's a wonderful, wonderful game.

(and only $10)

Look - there's no sense crying over every mistake.
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

The entire orange box for 360 goes for $20 used.

Every gamer owes it to themselves to play this, if for nothing else but the ending song.

It’s a piece of cake to bake a pretty cake
If the way is hazy
You’ll gotta do the cooking by the book
You know you can’t be lazy!
Never use a messy recipe
The cake will end up crazy
If you do the cooking by the book, then you’ll have a cake
We gotta have it made
You know there I love cake
Finally it’s time to make a cake

Ah yes. Just finisehd it. Best 2 day game I think I've ever played.
Spoiler (click to reveal)
My favorite part is when I was trying to break the glass with a chair for like 30 minutes last night two rooms away from where a rocket robot was firing at me with unlimited ammo (and portal-able walls).
Don't care for timed puzzles that much, but they kept that to a minimum thankfully. A++

I don't play many new computer games, and the only reason I even played Portal to begin with was because someone showed me the ending song!

You know, I've always wondered about this game. I love puzzles and it seems like something I'd like.

But, I'd have to play it on the computer and I'm dumb about that--- do I need a controller? See? a small thing like having to buy a joystick for the computer is enough to make me think, 'ah it's too hard.."

I play video games (including Portal) on my computer without a joystick. Just a mouse is all I need. You should try it (no additional equipment needed, and not a major time commitment).

I love 1-3 day games.

Try Braid if you get a chance. Also fantastic.

This. Most games can be played with keyboard and/or mouse. You should try it, Jatoha! If you haven't played many computer/video games in general it might be a little difficult at first, but the overall game difficulty is fairly low, it's fairly quick, it's fun to play, and it's utterly hilarious to boot.

Thirded: very playable with a mouse and keyboard!

GlaDOS is pleased to have a new subject!

This was a triumph.
I'm making a note here: HUGE SUCCESS.
It's hard to overstate my satisfaction.

Edited for a funny story. Not long after I started playing Portal, I opened a document in Acrobat, and there in the lower corner was an icon of... cake? Man, that screwed up my (already limited) sense of reality! So either the cake is NOT a lie, or Adobe was acquired by Aperature Science!

I have no idea what you're talking about, but as soon as my amazon order gets here I will!!
