Handsome devil huh?
"The only one I don't want to use at all is:
* Missile-Blocking Terrain"
Because Line-of-Sight Blocking Terrain already blocks Direct Missile Fire, but I like how in the regular rules Indirect Fire is not blocked by terrain - that's why.
The Missile-Blocking Terrain optional rule only concerns Indirect Fire.
Interesting responses so far. We have been using all of the optional rules, but it seems to make ranged units very weak. I think we may start going without them if people don't use them too often. I wasn't sure if they were thrown in because range was too powerful before. More responses would be great.
Try not using the Missile-Blocking Terrain optional rule, it makes a big difference. Without the rule you can sort of hide your Indirect Fire units behind Line-of-Sight Blocking Terrain and lob away at the enemy. I still use the No Line-of-Sight (Combat Modifier) though.
I personally don't think the other optional rules affect missile units too much, but I like the realism they add (such as accidentally shooting your own units). However, using both the Engaged Target (Combat Modifier) and the Shooting into Engagements together definitely impacts missile fire negatively - but I still use both rules (my own sense of realism again).
