Saw this on a recent image. Is this a planned official expansion?

Having a new map with different country growth/conflict potentials would be interesting..

Well i don't know if Mac Gertz has plans for an official release but Imperial 2030, as it is called, is playable.

It was played in Leiria Con last Saturday and from what i heard from those who played it, it was quite good.

If he`s not going to release it, then upload the files for us fans!

Otherwise he risks being called a big fat jerk.

Any significant gameplay differences? Special rules?

I actualy played the game at LeiriaCon 2009. Me, Soledade, Martin Wallace, John Daniels and Mac Gerdts...
It's realy good, lots of interaction, harder taxations, it's amazing how, with the same mechanics but a different map, (and some minor rules changes) the game became even better... another master piece by Mr Gerdts...
He kindly offered the game to SpielPortugal - http:spielportugal.blogspot.com -
More news on the game soon...

Portugal is quickly becoming an important country in the boardgaming world, lots of exclusives and interesting gifts from great designers (Make sure you keep awarding grateful designers, lol)

Could you tell what those minor rules tweaks are? Or has Gerdts disallowed them to be published? I'm planning to make a copy of this map to myself, but I'll be playing with vanilla Imperial rules if I cannot get hold of the official ones.

A lottery is very nice, but hardly a way to "get a copy" (except for the single lucky winner). I think the question is whether this variant will be available to all who want it, either by purchase or download.

The spielPortugal team (http://spielportugal.blogspot.com/), with the previous consent of Mac Gerdts, is lottering a copy of the expansion Imperial 2030. It includes one high quality map, a set of bonds tiles created by Mac gerdts himself. (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/image/429785)

We are lottering the second available copy of the game - spielportugal owns the first

The goal for us is to make some money in order to organize our next LeiriaCon (http://leiriacon.blogspot.com/) which is the biggest convention in Portugal.

Here's how it works: people buy numbers and each number costs 1 euro. For example, if you're the first to buy numbers and you'd want to buy 10 numbers, you would get from #1 to #10. At the end of february we will make a drawing and the winner will get the copy. It's very simple.

If you're interested please contact me at my geek mail

Note: these files are not going to be published here in BGG so it's a very rare copy

I strongly disagree. I think Mac Gerdts has supported LeiriaCon very well over the past. Last year it was a different Hamburgum map wasn't it? By making it an exclusive it enables the con to raise funds without increasing the membership fee. It may be bad news for us who didn't make it to Portugal but in terms of supporting gaming it is the right choice. It is making LeiriaCon more attractive to people outside Portugal.

It seems that having a copy available right now via lottery (from LeiriaCon) and having some expansions produced later on for general availability shouldn't conflict with each party's respective interests.

I'll also contribute to the lauding of Mr. Gerdt's expansion donation.

I would've rather have them produce 100 copies of it and sell them each for something like 20 euros each than a lottery (getting money from people for only a chance at winning it). It probably doesn't cost that much to produce a map, and I'd much rather pay 20 euros knowing I'd get it than paying 20 for 20 chances (out of hundreds or thousands from other imperial fans).

Or maybe sell the files for 20 euros (no production costs, then).

If it's going to be released separately in 2010, then ok, you gamble for a chance to own the expansion earlier. I'm used to waiting to get things more cheaply. If this is the only way it will be available, it's very annoying to me. The game has more fans than just the person who wins the lottery and people at spielportugal (however correct they were at naming Imperial the best game of 2006).

Good. Otherwise I would have wasted many hours drawing the blasted thing myself. (I'm about 50% done)

Shame for the rules, though.. cry

Aaaannd. I'm done (drawing). The real work is still ahead.. zombie

(Low resolution on purpose)
