I got my gas bill today and it has doubled from this time last year. cry $200! just to heat my house! Last year I kept the thermostat at 62. Now it sits at 69-70ish. I need to move to someplace warm. Maybe Texas (then I could also attend BGG.CON)

Yep. I keep mine around 75, because the children will not keep clothes or blankets on.

Is that $200 per month?

As opposed to what?

I had the same experience. The bill will drop next year, unless you're like me and decided to have another. Don't think of it as money wasted as much as money invested. The money spent on heat is a pale comparison to the complete joy of warping the next generation of geek. Embrace it.

We've kept ours at 68 during the day, 60 at night, and our girls haven't frozen yet...even though they would often throw off their blankets at night. Now we set it sometimes as low as 64 during the day.

Honestly, your kids will be OK. You can set the thermostat in the 60's...they don't seem to know when it's cold, but when they get really cold, they'll tell you. My wife and I get cold before the kids do.
