I just started reading a book by Walter Isaacson called "Benjamin Franklin - An American Life". I would recommend it myself, but I'm only about 100 pages in (although it's wonderful thus far). It came highly recommended by my father, father-in-law, and wife.
On page 63 the author is discussing Ben's "favorite theme: slow and steady diligence is the true way to wealth.".
I just couldn't resist posting this. :-)

From page 63 of Benjamin Franklin - An American Life:
--------------------------------------------
He ended by quoting what his imaginary friend Agricola said on giving his son a parcel of land: "I assure thee I have found a considerable quantity of gold by digging there; thee mayst do the same. But thee must carefully observe this, Never to dig more than plow deep."

Great find! Be aware, though, that (at least according to Wikipedia) the name was reasonably common back then, no real surprise considering it's straight-up Latin for farmer, and there were still plenty of that type of folk back in Franklin's day. Heck, back in the days of the Roman Empire, for that matter.

Me, I wonder how ol' Ben would have reacted to the Franklin Mint and the massive amounts of pricy curios they pump out every year.
