I see that there are a few home made sets of Dominion using wooden discs instead of cards and they look excellent. I happened across a site that makes custom ceramic polymer poker chips. They can print your images directly on both sides of the poker chips as well as the rolling edge - no stickers.

The chips are 39.5mm (approx 1.5") in diameter, 3mm (~1/8") thick and weigh 10g each. ie, a set of 500 chips would weigh 5kg (11 lb). Not quite as portable as when using wooden discs. I got this info from http://www.iconicpokersupplies.com.au/index.php/about-custom.... They also have a few photos of some custom ceramic poker chips.

Here's a pretty good custom chip to give you an idea of the quality and what could be done: http://www.abcgiftsandawards.com/rabbit.htm

The problem is that each chip costs up to 1 USD each for a quantity of 500 or more of the same type. The idea is that you get lots and lots of the same chip with the same design. To get the 59 (minimum) different designs required for Dominion (with Envoy) you'd need to get enough people together to be get the quantities high enough to make it feasible, let alone affordable. If you could get the price down to 60c per chip you're still looking at about $300 for one copy of the game.

FYI, here's a site that lists a whole bunch of custom poker chip makers for anybody that is seriously entertaining this idea: http://www.homepokertourney.com/chips-custom.htm.

While neat in theory, nice stickers on regular poker chips is much cheaper and can look just as nice. Ceramic chips are easy to ding, especially in a situation where you have them bouncing off each other in a grab bag. They aren't really designed for use like that.
