Me and some friends are working on making a video game together, but we need a solid board game to play on breaks. 1 hour is a typical break so nothing that will go too much over that is prefered. We would probably prefer something that takes about 45 minutes on an average to allow time to get some food.

We are all fairly familiar with games like Catan, Betrayal at House on the Hill, Star Wars: Epic Duels, and Munchkin.

Any suggestions? We are fairly experienced gamers. I wouldn't say experienced enough for the big tabletops like Warhammer 40,000, but experienced.

Thanks for the help!

If you have space for it, it would be pretty awesome to set up Twilight Imperium and do 1 turn a break. You would vastly expand the metagame deal making and such.

Diplomacy might work similarly well.

30 bucks at Target. This game is designed to be optimal with seven players and it's the best party game ever, I promise.

Razzia
Red November
Cthulhu 500
Den of Thieves plus Rival Den of Thieves will handle 10 players
The Red Dragon Inn plus The Red Dragon Inn 2 will handle 8 players
Monster Derby but may play longer than 60 minutes
Swashbuckler might be able to handle a 7th player, but I'm not sure.

If you like Mafia or Werewolf, try out The Resistance (I designed it).

I'll second (or third?) the suggestion of Citadels. It is ideal with 7 (or 8 if you have the Dark City expansion, which comes with the latest version of the game). Much fun.

Citadels for 7 players around 45 minute ?

I'd love to find the players that would allow it... I find Citadels with more than 5 players to have too much downtime for me.

How about 2 tables of Race for Galaxy (3-4 players) switching from break to break ? Roborally could be an option too, Finister Flure I like very much when played with a timer, Bang! is a cool filler.

I'd say Liar's Dice or The Great Dalmuti. Both designed to handle pretty big groups.

thanks for all the great recommendations. I was going to get Bohnanza but the local game shop didn't have it in stock. Citadels has been mentioned to me a couple times here. I've also seen it when cross-referencing games that are similar to Anima: Shadow of Omega...so I decided to go with that one. Compact, easy to carry around, good for 7 players. And I think since everyone that will be playing understands we only have 1 hour, we can speed the game up a bit.

Thanks for all the help!!
