So it goes.

Scenario 4: Assault on the East Tower
Mission: Eliminate all the Dark Legion on the map in 8 rounds. No more DL reinforcements after turn 5.
This mission had a much different feel to it than any of the previous missions. It felt like the first three were almost training missions and this one was the real deal. Instead of using 4 tiles like all the previous levels, this mission used all 8 tiles creating a giant square. The mission object of killing every enemy turned the board into a room by room search and destroy scenario.
Mission 4 Board
Like the other missions, the difficulty of this mission lies in what reinforcements the DL spawns. The Bauhaus team had a huge advantage this round in that they were able to roll the 50% chance of hit dice while everyone else was still only using 33% chance. Bauhaus started in the upper left, Imperial in the lower right, and Mishima in the lower left. All three teams advanced to the upper right corner were the DL could call in reinforcements. Mishima decided to split up his troopers and sending one each way. As predicted the DL used his forces to block and disrupt the troopers, while fortifying sector 3 with his best troops.
Everything was going to plan until on turn 6 the DL was able to teleport a Razide back to the lower left corner, far away from all the troopers. Imperial was bogged down by DL reinforcements in the twisted corridors of sector 6; Imperial was in no man’s land after clearing sector’s 5, 4, and 2; and Bauhaus, with its combat bonuses, was able to cut all the way through to the DL "base" in sector 3. Since the DL couldn’t call in reinforcements, all that remained was the Razide who teleported away. Imperial was able to teleport a trooper toward the enemy, while Mishima was able to scramble one trooper back. With one turn left both troopers had the chance to move into position and take one shot. Mishima went first, and with no bonuses, was unable to kill the Razide. That left Imperial with one attack, needing to hit on 3 of the 4 dice rolls. The first three dice were rolled with two successful hits. The entire mission came down to a 33% odds roll. The die came to a stop with a successful hit. The DT players cheered and the DL player threw his arms up in disgust.
Imperial 38 PP and 8 credit.
Bauhaus 46 PP and 8 credits.
Mishima 32 PP and 7 credits.
Scenario 5: Break Their Back!
Mission: Find and destroy the DL battle computer in 6 rounds. One team will also get a secondary mission card.
Mission 5 board
This one was an interesting mission, the troopers had to find the hidden computer and destroy it before time ran out. The computer was hidden in sector 4 or 6 and the trooper had the option of starting in sector 1 or 2. This mission also marked the first use of the best weapons and the first use of the secondary mission card. Plus everyone was high enough rank that everyone was able to use the red dice, which meant more successful hits for everyone. It also marked the first trooper death.
Mishima was chosen to perform a secondary mission of killing 10 PP worth of enemies while searching for the computer. The troopers slowly made their way toward the center of the map when the DL drew the Nepharite reinforcement card. The nepharite is a giant sorcerer on par with the ezoghoul as the toughest enemy. As a defense the DL gathered he’s troops around the stairs sector with the Nepharite leading the cause:
Imperial(black) to the left, Bauhaus(dark green) at the top, and Mishima(blue) right in the middle.
Mishima made the first move and, using a doomtrooper card to prevent damage, managed to sneak past the blockade and find the computer. With 2 turns left, everything pointed to another victory. Then the DL drew an event card which let him switch any two tiles on the map. Of course the middle tile had all 6 troopers on it and was switched to the tile as far away as possible. The DL then used the nepharite to lay a beat down on Bauhuas’ Valerie trooper, dealing five damage and killing her.
Computer was in the bottom right but everyone was moved far away.
The last two rounds resulted in killing as many enemies as possible since the objective was too far away to reach. Imperial ended up killing the nepharite before it did anymore damage and Mishima came remarkable close to damaging the computer, even though everyone else had given up. Mishima was easily able to complete its secondary objective, which resulted in 2 credits. On the other hand Bauhaus lost a trooper losing 1 credit
Imperial 55 PP and 8 credit.
Bauhaus 61 PP and 7 credits.
Mishima 51 PP and 9 credits.
Conclusion after 5:
This is now the mid-point in the campaign and using the conversion of 1 credit = 5PP suggested in the rules, the three teams are all within 1 point of each other. The Doomtroopers have won 2 levels outright, the DL has won 1 level, and two levels were mixed results. With such a close race I am not surprised that the Doomtroopers haven’t turned on each other yet. Not a single card has been played against another team, and I think it’s because there is no front-runner to gang up on. Everyone has really become attached to their team, it would definately be hard starting a new campaign without keeping my beloved Imperial.
