Definately sort by race.

I put all my slip covers together so I can track of what I've bought.

I sort mine by race and then size (shuttles/drones, escorts, capital ships each get their own bin in the Plano).

The 1" counters and the 5/8" counters are kept separate.

Neutral units, like planets, monsters and general units have their own bins.

I'm not happy with the way I store ship cards. Anyone have a good storage method for those?

I don't have that much stuff, but ...

I have the fleets broken down by race, as others have. I'm using a series of stackable GMT counter trays for these, and while I have quite a few empty slots (meaning the method isn't all that efficient), it does make it easy to find stuff, which is the prime consideration.

I use a half-page-size binder for the ship cards and the applicable page protectors. If I recall correctly, this does leave a tiny fraction of the card exposed at the top, but this is not a serious practical problem. Over the years, there have been several threads on the FedCom boards about this, but I can't find any now, and they tend to prune the threads pretty aggressively in most of the forums over there.

Thank you for the help guys
Me personally i don't like the box design of it having a slip cover i just want to have all the counter trays together and the books and the rest so it is easy to access
