This is crossing the internets.

Make your bets, fake or real? Me, I have no idea. And don't care really.

I'm pretty sure members of the Academy don't get advance notice of the winners.

(The ones I know don't, anyway...)

I'll stick my neck out to say that the Best Picture award won't go to a foreign film. It's a British production and set in India -- not in the running as far as American awards shows go. It might get some minor award of some sort.

I expect Best Picture will go to The Reader or Benji Button.

I'm convinced that it is ABSOLUTELY fake, unless of course it's authentic. And I will stand by these words not matter what.

I'll go against the naysayers, and say it's real.

The IQ of a mob is zero.

And this is a fake, there are no advance letters.

Actually, I believe the theory is that the total IQ of a mob has a cap. After that point, adding more people just contributes to the lowering of the the average.

Just look at congress

I gave you a thumb for using ennui, aver and prognosticative in a single sentence.

Doubtful. The vote tallying is only handled by 2 people at PricewaterhouseCoopers. One of them delivers the sealed envelopes on Oscar night. If the winners were leaked, one of those two is in deep shit.

Using both 'ennui' and 'aver'? Tell-tale sign that Cranky's true meaning is anagrammed.

More importantly, why did Slumdog Millionaire's screenwriter thank "the amazing Dev and Latika?" Was he unable to recall Freida Pinto's name?

I heard something on the radio yesterday about how Price Waterhouse Coopers tabulates the votes, and delivers them to the ceremony. The Academy doesn't even have them before that.

Yeah. I mean, you could say that they're lying about that, but what does the academy gain by lying about it?

This is in addition to the obvious in the letter itself that it is fake -
1. That's not a comprehensive list of the categories, it's just a list of the categories in the televised ceremony
2. He wouldn't list his title as "President of the Academy...", it'd be "President, Academy..." or something similar
