So, my wife and I were discussing our Lenten observances.

Her: This year, why don't you give up BoardGameGeek for Lent?

Me: (thinking fast) But... but... I'm managing their fantasy baseball league this year, and that's how I communicate with all of them.

Her: Oh, yeah, that's true.

Me: *Phew*

On that same note, I decided to give up my lunches during Lent, and the money I would have spent will get donated to a famine relief agency.

Ugh. LUNCH? I thought Lent was suppose to be about giving up a luxury to bring a sense of grounding to people, not to give up vital items to bring a sense of grounding. Unless you are masocistic... I'LL NEVER GIVE UP MY LUNCH OR MY LUNCH MONEY!

I'm giving up caffeine, candy, all non-water beverages while at work, and (hrmmm...oughta be something game-related...) let's say, buying games online. That way I help my FLGS's, too.

I figure what you give up for Lent should be something meaningful to yourself and the world around you.

I give up paying taxes... and getting the mail naked.

Now, I'm not Catholic, but I don't think it counts if it's court ordered.

People should give up Christianity. That way, they would immediately be freed from the constraints of Lent. Of course, since they would no longer need to observe Lent, they could freely practice Christianity again, forcing them to observe Lent, where they have to give up their faith, only to regain it again....

It's like buttering the cat's back.

On behalf of all the Catholic men who are embarrassed to post their real answers, I'm giving up Internet porn.

Not to send this to RSP or anything, but the liturgical calendar is not followed by every Christian denomination.

Yeah, I was raised in one that gave up lent for lent.
