Is there anyway to tell WHERE thumbs are originating?

I like to know what I'm saying/doing that attracts the thumbs. I can see when my thumb count goes up, but I haven't been able to figure out a way to tell where they are coming from.

Is it a thread I started months ago that someone just discovered? Maybe someone is reading through some old threads and agrees with a comment I made. I haven't posted many photos, but one of them may have struck someone's fancy.

Part of it is ego, of course. But part of it is wanting to contribute. If I've done something to get a thumb, then SOMEBODY found it useful or thought it contributed in some way. The better I can understand that, the more I can contribute.

By the way... if this answer is painfully obvious and I've completely missed it, be gentle.

Some of them anyway...head to "my geek" and click on the contributions tab. You should see the information you want in the box on the right.

Little of it is obvious, very little is directly possible.

On your CONTRIBUTIONS page you will see the Thumb number broken down into different categories. Daily observations and a vivid memory help tell you which numbers changed.

Knowing those numbers, you can also go click on the count of Contributions for each category. Mostly this will give you a reverse chrono of what you have submitted. Some of those chronos will also tell you directly what your thumb count is for each item (but now you still have to remember if that is different today). Others make you visit the individual items to see anything at all. That isn't so bad for your last few entries, but nearly impossible way back in history.

Things are easist for IMAGES, where you can use the dropdown boxes to pick HOT and a time frame that will filter recent action for you (even on old pictures).

Popular Request: suggestions that Aldie should make more traceabilty, especially for most recent arriving Thumbs.

Wow... that box isn't really clear on that. I've known of that section of my profile for quite some time. I was told that it was just a count of my contributions (i.e. comments, uploads and such). But I see now that the number of thumbs equals all of my "contributions."

I certainly wouldn't have thought that someone giving ME a thumb would reflect on my contribution count. It seems kind of backwards.

Thanks!

If you didn't want humor you should have flagged that at the top of your thread!

Wow... requests for ACTUAL advice have to be labeled as such? Who knew?

Also, when you're looking at the thumb count for an individual item, you can click on the green thumb-count number and it will tell you who the thumbs are from.

And that works for any post anywhere, not just your own.

Dude, you got your advice, and somebody threw in a silly, inoffensive, and funny joke, too. It was a bonus! Look on the bright side of life!

If only you could do that on Chapel's map -- it would clear up a lot of the debates in RSP!

I guess you're having a problem identifying sarcasm.

Correct. Every post is taken as a request for advice and humor, unless specified otherwise.
