Never played solo with the Famous Aces box, personally, but Hans Korting explains his method in issue #1 of Vae Victis International:
http://vaevictisinternational.de/

Some solo scenarios including balloons and ground defenses are in Wings of War: Burning Drachens. For WWII, some (with ground defenses but not balloons) are in Wings of War: Fire from the Sky.

All the best!

Thanks. Do you know whether his solo rules are online or only available by subscription to the magazine?

Well no, I think they are just on the magazine.

You can go to the Yahoo discussion group

http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/wow_nexus/

and browse old message, the subject has been discussed before.

All the best!

Thanks for the advice. I've joined the group and now just got several thousand posts to enjoy before I become a fighter ace!

The good thing is that nobody will try to shoot at you while you try to!

The magazine, which is now called Command & Strategy #7, a Vae Victis Compilation, is in the process of final proofing and will be printed shortly.

Next to the solo rules there's an interesting story about 'record-setting' with Wings of War, read largest game played numbers wise.

Command & Strategy #7 has solo rules made up by me, and it is available now.

It contains some more WoW stuff by Andrea too.

Great link and interesting rules. Downloaded for my solo force. Any specifics on how to guide Recon/Bombers to the targets solo? I was going to try that when they got within 24" of target to consider that the most pressing enemy so as to guide in on it...
