So as I design games, I rarely come up with names. This is my biggest hurdle as I prepare them for publication. They get weird names that make no sense, because that's the theme. Like, fantasy game or hot dog game. They need names. Anyone have a name generator I can borrow?

Are you really looking for a generated name? I feel it stands to reason that the name of your games should come from the game content, not from some random generator. The games I've developed are all named after components or themes from the game itself:

Hedged! - based on the game mechanic of hedging stock risk. (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/383729)
Green Thumb - based on the name of victory point tiles in a gardening based board game.
Rockstar Burnout - based on the theme of musicians' celebrity causing their ultimate demise.
Silly Salamanders - the main characters in the games are all newt looking cartoons.

Now some are difficult to peg, for instance a dice/card game that's in development now pits Zombies, Robots, Vampires and Ninjas against each other and the poor cityfolk of Pleasant Crossing. The working title is, War of Awesome, simply because I think that if a battle of such magnitude were to actually occur, it would simply be awesome!

Just put the words "Renaissance", "Princes", "Traders", or "Empires" somewhere in the title and you'll do OK.

I do the same as djmatrix. I think of what my game is about, and then I come up with a clever pun for it.

Pirates following maps to find treasure - Treasure Trail

Donner Party traveling and eventually eating each other - Donner Party of 4

Spiders catching flies in their webs - Web of Flies

Naming the game is very important to me, as I feel that the name is part of what draws someone to your game.

I quite like the Elvish Name Generator but I guess that's not really what you're after.

You need to design a game that makes names for games.

I think "War of Awesome" is possibly the best title ever, particularly given the content.

Or combine them to multiply the effect. When "Renaissance Empires of the Trader Princes" eventually comes out, it will be number 1 on BGG, for ever. EVER!

Wow. That's part of the creativity required to be a designer.

Take an element of the theme or mechanic and check what it would be in other languages.

Find a dictionary. Close your eyes. Open the book. Point to an entry on either page. Open your eyes. Write down the first syllable of the word. Repeat the process for successive syllables.

Look at words and names spelled backwards.

You need a computer program??

Just don't do what Kris Burm does: YINSH, GIPF, TZAAR, DVONN, ZÈRTZ -- impossible to remember, spell, or differentiate!
