I gotta go with the obvious: Ticket to Ride.

FWIW, my 11 year old girl suggested Ubongo, Snatch, Pente, Animalia, or Klondike and turned her nose up at the thought of Ticket to Ride. Before I told her to assume these were non-gamers, Roma and Stone Age were her recommendations.

I'd play it conservative and ask the parents what they might be interested in playing with their kids.

Would they like Zombies!!! or Catan?

I'd consider several smaller games rather than investing in the not inexpensive TTR.

Aquarius
Coloretto
Freight Train
Hive
Hey, That's My Fish!-- May not be too cheap!

Others can give you more recommendations along these lines, if that's the way you decide to go!
