Is there a good board gaming magazine in the US, and if so, which one?
(are there any?)

I do not know of any.

In the US - Games Magazine has some articles on board gaming.

Outside of the US - there are several foreign language ones, but you'd probably be most interested in Counter - http://homepage.ntlworld.com/the-labyrinth/games/counter/ind...

Flagship may be available in the US. Its primarily play-by-mail focussed but also includes online and boardgames.

Some back-issues of Flagship are available for download (free):
http://www.flagshipmagazine.com/showthread.php?tid=4

The latest one available is Nov/Dec 2005 - they aren't silly and don't give away recent issues for free! This though should give you an idea if you would like to subscribe to the mag.

I don't think a magazine truly devoted to board games could ever survive. You just couldn't get the subscriber base to justify the amount of ad sales you'd need to sustain it long term. Unfortunately, esp compared to other similar industries like video games, there just aren't enough consumers.
