Eilat, Eyal, Ronen and Roy (myself)
We are veteran players who enjoy both eurogames, but some of us also
enjoy a good wargame now and then. Eilat and me had both played T&E
many times, but Eyal and Ronen needed a reminder of the rules
Eilat: The lion dynasty
Roy: The Bull dynasty
Eyal: The Pot dynasty
Ronen: The Archer dynasty
Each of us started out by trying to get the treasures.I placed my king
first in a kingdom in the middle of the board, planning to spread in
both directions for the treasures - a plan that worked at first. Eilat
concentrated on the right side of the board, placing her leaders in
two kingdoms there. Eyal had his leaders in the "north" of the board
and Ronen in the left and middle. After a couple of peaceful merges,
I started to realize that my problem is going to be black bits. I had
a hand full of blue river tiles, so I decided instead of changing it
to use an opportunity I had to create a monument out of 4 of them,
getting many blue cubes from it, but still not blacks. At that stage,
all the kings were on the board, but I did not have any black tiles
so I couldn't really challenge them in external conflicts.
Eyal and Ronen meanwhile complete a green and red monument on the left
side of the board, and began to try to oust each others green leader
from its vicinity, using catastrophe tiles to almost isolate it.
Eilat was apparently lacking in green cubes, as she tried to make wars
with other green leaders.
The game ended when Ronen joined two final kingdoms, leaving just
two treasures on the board.
The winner was Eilat who had about 7 green cubes as her lowest, Eyal
next, then Ronen and me last - with 3 black cubes. Two of them being
Personally this was one of the worst outcomes for me in a game of
t&e. I just couldn't seem to get hold of black cubes, try as I might.
In hindsight, I should have replaced my hand early in the game, but
I somehow thought I should keep my blue tiles in hand to protect my
blue leader who was drawing a steady income from a monument - not that
my pile of blue cubes helped in the end.
We all wanted a rematch but the babysitter called then... next time.
was there not blue/black monument in your game, you could have placed that, moved your king, and then generated some black VP's
There was, but there was a king firmly lodged in that kingdom next to 3 temples, and I only had one red in hand at the time, so I could not have won that internal war.
