Recently the loyal and fierce Owlbear was beaten out in the Favorite D&D Monster March Madness Tournament (http://boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/40632) to the dramatically generic Vampire of all things.

I think that it is because the general public doesn't appreciate the genius of the Owlbear. I think if given the opportunity to wear a bitchin' Owlbear shirt, more people would come to appreciate and love the Owlbear.

I'm thinking something like:

on a cliff with:

Superimposed on the moon.

All in the spirit of this classic shirt:

It brings a tear to my eye.

I think that all right-thinking people in this country are sick and tired of being told that ordinary, decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am.

DUDE! A T-shirt with an Owlbear on a cliff in front of the moon would be seventeen kinds of AWESOME!

I am so tired of seeing those generic "howling wolf" shirts at cons. I would totally love to wear an Owlbear shirt just to show those jerks what a real wild creature is!

Where do we sign up for the waiting list?

I knew that tournament was a sham when Owlbears didn't take it all.

I like where your head is at.

If you've got some good source art it's easy enough to composite and have them printed. CafePress or Artscow. I got an Artscow code for a free white double side with $9 shipping

If Owlbears could fly...omg.

It would pretty much be my favorite animal. It's like an owl and a bear mixed...bred for its skills in magic

The question is, is it born to roam? Because that could be a dealbreaker.

Well duh. Who do you think put that wolf in your apartment in the first place?

How about a gelatinous cube on a cliff in front of the moon?

Well, since a gelatinous cube is well below the coolness level of an owlbear, that shirt would only be, say, two to three kinds of awsome. Of course, below the cube would be yellow mold and then black pudding. Neither of those would be any kind of awesome.

Pfft...gelatinous cube is the true connoisseur's choice. Even the beholder is cooler than owlbear. goo

Only 1 Beholder appears at a time, while 1d4+1 Owlbears appear.
The Beholder gets 1 bite of 1d4+1 damage, while the Owlbear does claw/claw/bite (1d6/1d6/1d12) and a hug does 2d8 points additional damage.
The Beholder has ten eye stalks, each with a separate magic spell it can throw, but only four may function at any one time, and the great single eye cannot function if they do.
The Beholder has an Armor Class of 4 but I am unable to find one for the Owlbear in my original 1974 D&D booklets. I'd guess the same or a bit stronger.

If the Beholder is unable to stop an Owlbear with the magic from its eyestalks, then a couple of swipes from the Owlbear's claws would probably destroy the Beholder. If more than one Owlbear appears, then the Beholder is toast. Or rather, a greasy spot on the ground.

Owlbears rule! Beholders drool!
