I have a question about the title of the game.
What does the word "Die Macher" mean exactly ?
It must be German, but I have no idea about German.

Literally translated, it means "The Makers". That is an expression that roughly translates to "The Power-Brokers".

The 1997 printed English edition of the rules that Hans Im Glueck made available for a time, translated by John Webley, had the name of the game as "Die Macher"! (Big help, wasn't it.) But in an introduction to the rules, under the heading "Tips on regarding these Rules" (that's a direct quote), there is this concluding comment: "So, take the destiny of your party into your hands, and lead them to victory, if you can do it, you really will be a true powerbroker, a true 'Macher'."

Having said that, I also recall when the original Mosquito version of the game was published, there were amateur translations circulating that called the game "The Fixers."
