I would recommend World at War: Eisenbach Gap or Blood and Bridges. The rules are IMO easier than PG rules. It's relatively new and isn't WWII based.

"Not WWII" covers a lot of ground! All the way from Commands & Colors: Ancients and Rome At War III: Queen of the Celts up to World at War: Eisenbach Gap and World at War: Blood and Bridges or Lock 'n Load: Forgotten Heroes – Vietnam and Lock 'n Load Tactical: Day of Heroes. Those, or others in the same series, would be my recommendations.

Getting on the pre-order list for Kingdom of Heaven with the rest of us chumps would be a fine choice. Alas, it may be a while.

Do you have a particular era or technology you'd like to see? Land or sea? Pikes or rifles? There's so many out there.

I'm looking for more wargames that DON'T take place in WWII.

They make games that do that?

Ok for reals, I'd second LnLs World at War series of games: World at War: Eisenbach Gap and World at War: Blood and Bridges They're really supporting it; it's about the same scale as Panzer Grenadier, and it's downright easy to pick up and learn if you have any previous wargame experience. It also doesn't take a zillion years to play...

Their Lock 'n Load: Band of Heroes(squad tactical games) is a tiny skosh more difficult to learn and right now Lock 'n Load Tactical: Day of Heroes is only $26 from their website. You can find it for about that from other places as well.
