Nice program but purchase is required if you want to print or even print preview any of the maps you create.

Thanks for the warning, Walt. The screenshots look nice, but the $45 pricetag is too much for me to even bother with a mostly useless demo.

It is not free, but you can use it to create almost any kind of map, from ASL to Kriegbot. I am using it to also create maps for Ancient Battles Deluxe:

Try Hexogapher at http://inkwellideas.com/?page_id=160, a free online Java program for creating hex maps. It supports terrain graphics, drawn overlays, text labels, saving and loading of maps, random map generation, and other features I haven't yet played with.

this thing is pretty great

I sooooo wish i had this 15 years ago... perfect for instant playtest maps
