At the risk of being a Punk, this is what is listed on the Vassal site:
Quote:
Victory in the Pacific module enhancement to version 3.0b02 retains the key VASSAL features of platform independence and enabling both stepped review of PBEM play & real time play via the inherent server

I do not have the game down loaded but the part about real time play would seem to me that it could be done.

The Vassal module allows for live online play as well as being an excellant means to pbem using log files. I've done both. There is an active VITP ladder at www.gameaholics.com and the next round is starting on May 15th. Rounds last for 4 months. A lot of top notch VITP players participate in the ladder. And then there's me too. Commander Fodder.
